Patrick Mukabi is one of Kenya’s most known artist whose practice spans over 20 years. He studied art from primary school all the way through his years at Eastleigh Secondary, the Creative Art Centre and finally at the Kenya Polytechnic, where he studied graphic design. Mukabi initially worked mostly as a painter but in recent years has taken up instruction (formal and otherwise) to young artists who are beginning a professional practice as well as children of all ages (those that visit his studio, on TV, in schools and in public spaces). His work connects between the observable, a full figured woman going about her everyday life and the metaphorical, the collective happenings in the society.
Patrick Mukabi is the founder of Dust Depo, a shared studio space and nurturing nest for young artists.
